Natural Antibiotics

When you need to use an antibiotic use something with no side effects, try using natural antibiotics! There will be times when you will be faced with the need for an antibiotic. Your pet may have a bad cut that has become infected, or your dog or cat may have a urinary tract infection.

Antibiotics can be lifesaving and when things have already progressed rapidly you will have to use them. With that being said, please be judicious when you do use them.

DO NOT quickly reach for antibiotic treatment for every infection, this includes antibiotic creams. This is especially tempting for horse owners who often have their own small medical arsenal in their tack room, and sometimes may want to use drugs quickly to help with a problem not realizing that there is a risk.

Firstly, I would like to say please refrain from using antibiotics on your own without having a Veterinarian advise you to do so. Secondly, if you can use natural treatments first especially in the beginning phases of an infection please do so.

There are many reasons to use natural antibiotics, however the main ones are:

Natural products do not have the same side-effects and do not destroy intestinal good bacteria along with the bad bacteria
You do not risk building more powerful bacteria resistant strains with each antibiotic use.

It is a known fact that Veterinary Universities are now advising their students and practicing Veterinarians against the over-liberal use of antibiotics, when more natural medicines can successfully be given.

Why? This is because they are seeing the stark reality of bacteria becoming so resistant to even the strongest drugs.

This is scary because if your horse, dog or cat ever really needs those antibiotics, they won’t work! In addition they need to come up with such powerful pharmaceuticals that they are becoming increasingly more toxic to your pet.

The bacteria find a way, but your pet may not be so lucky, especially if he or she is already immune compromised.

I’m not saying do not use antibiotics, just think about it before you use them, and only when you really need them.

So what can you use instead?
